Hey! Phil Lomonaco! I’m talking to you. Are you really an idiot, or is this just an act you’re putting on for the court. I mean surely when you took on Eric Boyd as a client, you got the 4-1-1 on the details of the murders your client was accused of accessorizing. Surely you knew that the crimes committed against the two victims weren’t just heinous, but in fact were probably closer to psychopathic in description? I mean, hell, Phil, everybody in the world who wants to know has those details, so how come you didn’t just Google it and clue yourself in.
Phil, just so we’re all on the same page, your client is accused of being an accessory to a crime that allegedly included various things such as the cutting off a woman’s breasts, the rape of a man that was so violent that his internal organs were impacted, and forcing a woman to swallow bleach in order to remove all the various DNA that had been ejaculated down her throat. In fact, now that the truth is starting to come out in court testimony, there is now the very real possibility that even if his wasn’t one of the DNA samples that was destroyed, he may have watched that happen. It is also alleged that he helped hide the individuals who did these acts to strangers and it is known that after questioning he finally led the Police to the alleged ringleader. These people that were killed, just so you know Phil, he had never met them and had no reason to hate or hurt them. And if he helped even for a short time hide any of the perpetrators and knew the facts of the case, then whether or not he was actually involved in the acts allegedly committed against the dead couple, he bears blame for their deaths. That’s why he’s on trial. I guess I should also point out that these kids were innocent, driving to a party, just like all kids do, and there was no reason for them to die. Your client’s friends could have chosen to simply jack their car. Take it. Keep it. Sell it for parts. Drive it around and then burn it. But no. The alleged ringleader and his friends chose another way. They chose to be animals. They cannibalized these innocent victims. For no reason other than “they could”. Your client helped them by at minimum hiding the alleged ringleader and attempting to prevent his arrest, and as testimony showed on Thursday, there is now a possibility that he was present for the torture and rape. So, there is no question about whether he was involved, only the degree of involvement is at question and at the bottom of the government’s case against him. That’s why when I hear motions being made like “Inflaming the jury with the evidence of the case” all I can do is shake my head. I mean, really Phil, that’s rich. Only another sociopath would not be inflamed at the evidence in this case. And, just so you know, motions like that one and your cute little mistrial gambit are the reasons why I think you might actually be an idiot. And that’s my opinion, I’m allowed to it, just like you probably don’t have too high of an opinion of me right now. Don’t worry, if I need a lawyer, you wouldn’t be my choice anyway.
Okay, just so we’re completely clear on this point, the death penalty isn’t enough for any of these people. It doesn’t even compare to the death penalty that your client’s associates gave to Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom and that there is now questions raised as to whether he might have assisted in delivering. Not even close. And that’s the real reason I think you are an idiot, because you got yourself involved in attempting to defend the indefensible. That choice, in my estimation, also makes you an accessory to this crime, albeit one that can never be charged. And yes, I know somebody has to defend him, but you didn’t have to make that choice. I hope you can sleep at night, because I certainly can’t. I wonder whether there are more animals like this out there, waiting for one of my precious girls or boys. If there are, if you know what’s good for you, you won’t defend them. Because then I’ll know for sure that you’re an idiot. You see, I can’t imagine the pain that these parents are living with and I’m sure that I would go insane if I knew my child died in this heinous fashion. And that would mean that then you would be fighting me too. And, Phil, just so we’re clear, you’ll lose.

100% right. Let me add my name to this ‘Open Letter’

Can we not agree that equality under the law is a basic principle of our society? As Americans, we do not allow mob rule to override our principles. Similarly, we do not drag persons into the street to be killed because we are morally outraged.
The court room works, in some ways like a microcosm of our society. We do not allow emotionally impassioned jurors to override the law of the case.
To answer the question, “Did the person do what he is charge with?”, jurors make decisions based on relevant evidence and not based on emotional rage against horrific crime. If our laws are just then the jury will come to the right decision concerning guilt. Expression of our moral outrage can take place in another forum where it does not interfere with equality under the law.
If a Rule of Evidence applies to one person it applies to any person, no matter how reviled. Evidence that inflames a jury in a way that will prejudice a defendant’s right to a fair trial should be excluded. The necessity of a defense attorney who will, against all public outcry, make that argument is one of the hallmarks of our civil society.
I agree that he is entitled to a vigorous defense and I am not debating this case from the standpoint of a legal expert. Your points are all valid under law. My point of view is from that of a citizen, living in a world with animals like the five accused and Mr. Boyd. To be perfectly clear, if justice were to be truly exacted in this case, then the accused parties, at the guilty verdicts, would be dragged out into the streets and killed the same way their victims died. They deserve the same treatment, no mercy of any kind should be applied. I feel in my gut that Eric Boyd knew what happened to these kids. He made no effort to either stop it or report it. My feelings on cases such as this and accessories such as him are the very reasons why I would never be chosen for a jury and would not want to be a part of a case like this. I am very impassioned about this. To me there is no question as to whether or not these animals did this. The only question is which one did the most? That Mr. Boyd is guilty of something is a reality, it’s determining what that something is that the Government is charged with doing and I hope they are supremely successful. Mr. Lomonaco is only trying to prevent his client from the same injection that the others will hopefully face in the not to distant future. I believe that his his right to choose to do so, should he take it on. But I do not have to approve of his methods or choice. And I am entitled to voice that displeasure wherever I so choose.
I know that if I were ever accused of a crime like this, I would hope that someone would vigorously defend me, if I were innocent. But if I did actually perpetrate a crime like this then I too would deserve the punishment that goes with it and no defense is ever going to make a difference in the eyes of the community I live in, nor should it. That guilt is mine alone. None of these perpetrators have ever disputed whether they were a part of this crime, only that they weren’t the only one and that one of the others was more guilty than they were. Honor among thieves and murderers hasn’t changed much over the years, has it?
One of the most important things Phil Lomonaco could be doing for himself during this time is deciding what town he wants to move to next. I do believe the little man is pretty well ruined in this one!
